•  Working on the trolleys (streetcars)

What jobs were required to build, run and maintain our area trolleys? Tracks and streetcars had to be built, people had to run them, sell tickets and maintain the companies involved. This program aimed at lower elementary focuses on the people who kept the railways running. Using historical artifacts, models, demonstration and/or role playing, students are introduced to their area history.

•  Local History of development and area Streetcar companies

This unit covers the history of our area up through the 1930's concentrating on the part streetcars played in the development of local history. This unit is designed for middle to upper elementary.

•  Streetcar Technology

Streetcars are made of an infinite number of parts and technological devices. Students will learn the story of how trolleys evolved from mule-driven units all the way to the demise of streetcars due to the automobile. This unit is designed for middle to upper elementary students.

•  Engineering and Architectural concepts to explain the science and technology of streetcars

This unit will demonstrate firsthand how streetcars have been influenced by other scientific principles over the last several centuries. This unit is designed for middle and high school students.

•  Field Trip to car #25

Students explore the refurbished car at the Intermodal Transportation Center as well as study local history of the immediate area. This unit can be modified for all age groups.
